"Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact."
William James
Raised by two loving parents in the small town of Topanga Canyon, California, I was an outgoing and happy child. However, at the age of 16, while attending Palisades High School, I was in a severe car accident that changed my life forever. On January 3rd 1996, my long time friend crashed his car driving in Brentwood, California while traveling at approximately 90 mph. Although my friend was able to crawl out, because of the extent of my injuries, I was stuck inside the burning vehicle. Luckily, actress Pam Dawber found me inside the car and screamed to her husband, actor Mark Harmon, to come to my rescue. Mark smashed the window open with a sledge hammer and pulled my burning body from the car seconds before it exploded. The accident was so traumatic, I was placed in a drug induced coma for a many weeks and intubated due to a collapsed lung. I broke 12 bones and more than 30% of my body was burned. I was hospitalized for 5 months followed by months of bed rest. After undergoing extensive skin graft surgeries for my third degree burns, I had to learn to walk again and readjust to school and social situations with a tremendous amount of pain and an overwhelming amount of scars.
I finished high school and was able to follow through with my dreams of getting a Bachelors degree from the University of Caifornia Santa Barbara. After college, I spent most of my energy travelling the world in search of a variety of spiritual and cultural approaches to answer the "big questions" about life. In total I have travelled to over 50 different countries, and I have learned to comfortably navigate the unknown and thoroughly look at my innermost self. At 28 I had to come home from living in Thailand where I was studying language and training in Muay Thai, to take care of my father who was dying of cancer. After my father passed, I married my girlfriend. However, due in part to drug addiction, the marriage fell apart and I was forced to take a deeper look at the truth of my existence.
Although I was able to finish college, travel, and get married, I struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol for many years. It was not until I was able to overcome my addiction that my true purpose revealed itself. I discovered that through my own suffering I could relate to and help people to overcome their adversities. I became a Certified Personal Trainer and decided to dedicate my life to helping people undergo the transformations necessary to live a fullfilling and empowered existence. I now work in what I term the "Wellness" Industry that encompasses physical well being, Life Coaching, and Sober Coaching. I have worked at a number of transitional living facilities, and currently am a part time manager of a mens sober living facility in Venice, California. I also have experience with working as a Sober Companion for those that need a more vigilant approach to their journey in sobriety. It is my sincere desire to help those who are in search of a higher plane of existence reach their goals and gain a true sense of accomplishment.
